HELLO from Temple

October 25th, 2009

SO: Stephanie’s back to drums full time. Thank you Mike Hill for filling in for the past six months and doing a FANTASTIC job at it. You can see him play in Capital Down, Green Ears or Cousins of the Wize so go support his bands and check him out.

We are winding down our Thursdays at CK’s. Rock Lobster will take Jessica and Stephanie away from CK’s for the next six months or so of Thursdays by playing at Blue Martini Lounge up near Desert Ridge. We LOVE CK’s and all they are. Mike Gilbert’s new band Halo Machine just might be picking up the rest of the Thursdays so check HIM out at CK’s on Thursdays. We hope to be back to booking a Friday at CK’s in the very near future but keep your eyes on our calendars for any upcoming dates. Hopefully you can make Fridays with Temple work!

We had an amazing turnout for the Phoenix Race for the Cure. Stephanie’s drumoutcancer.com team had 140 members (all band members from Rock Lobster and Temple were accounted for) including former and current ASU softball team members. The ASU team shirts were great: two softballs in the obvious places and the shirt read “Sparky says Save Second Base”. Way to rock the pink, girls! Stephanie stood up on the podium, threw off her hat and sang the National Anthem before the 5k walk. It was one for the memory banks. You can likely find it on youtube under Komen Phoenix or Stephanie Foxx National Anthem…you’ll hear the shaky nerves in her voice, being that it was such an important and meaningful event. The hope is to make the team bigger and better next year and continue on until they FIND THAT ELUSIVE CURE. Needless to say, Stephanie has finished treatment as of Monday, Oct 19th and will continue to maintain a course of hormone therapy for the next five years to keep that nasty disease AWAY. Keep on supporting the cause since October IS breast cancer awareness month.

If we don’t see you at CK’s this week (Oct 29th) or next (Nov 5), we’ll not see you until you show up to one of our Friday shows. We’re off Friday of this week but Rock Lobster will be playing Wrigley Mansion on Halloween night so please get a costume and come and join Jessica, Stephanie (first show back with the whole band), John and DALLAN while they rock the Mans, haunted style.
